What Every Woman Needs to Know About Ovarian Cysts and Pregnancy:

ovarian cysts and pregnancy

In general, ovarian cysts have nothing to do with you getting pregnant or your fertility. However, there are several types of cysts that can hamper your ability to reproduce. We also need to consider the location and the size of the cyst.

Woman have two ovaries. If the growth is only on one of her ovaries, the normal ovary will keep on producing eggs. If the type of cyst that hampers the ovaries’ normal functions is present on both ovaries then you might have a problem there.

In fact, some types of ovarian cysts may only occur during pregnancy. The doctors will often advise women  just to wait and see how it progresses. They might not even prescribe any medication, but will advise you to go on a regular check up to monitor the progress and the development of the cyst as certain medications may be harmful for the unborn baby inside the mother’s womb. Some ovarian cysts never go away and doctors may advise the removal of the cyst through surgical procedures.

An ultrasound is usually done to see if the sac contains solid or liquid components and can be used to rule out cancer of the ovarian cyst. As a rule, cysts containing only liquid components are benign and most often they will just shrink on their own. They are known as simple ovarian cysts. Septated or complex ovarian cysts on the other hand have either solid or liquid components or they can have both. They have thick walls made of membranes. The thickness of these membranes can also tell if they are cancerous or not. Thick membranes spell trouble.

Septated ovarian cysts cause excruciating pain in women, especially if they twists on themselves. In pregnant women they can cause pre-term labor and possibly miscarriage. Another serious medical concern is if the cyst will rupture at any point, especially during the third trimester or labor.
Pregnancy is a joyous moment but also a delicate condition for both the mother and the unborn baby inside her. Before conceiving, a woman is advised to plan her pregnancy very well. Have regular pre-natal check ups with your OBGYN to monitor your condition. Eat healthy and organic food and live a healthy lifestyle.

Remember that everything you do and you do not do will affect the condition of the baby inside you. Healthy, natural and holistic treatment options are your only option during pregnancy because these solutions have no side effects.
